Though records managers often must maintain boxes of old paper records—in addition to electronic records—they no longer have to forgo modern digital technologies, like cloud service delivery.

This was a newer theme that was heavily discussed in several education sessions and the exhibition floor at the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) InfoCon 2019, held earlier this month at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tenn.

Though legal firms must comply with regulations that stipulate paper records must be stored on-premises or in a warehouse firm they can still utilize cloud services for records management and remain in compliance. In addition, records policies defined and managed centrally from the records management server can be applied consistently to both physical and electronic content – essential in today’s world where 95% of content is created or received in electronic format.

With this continued growth in electronic information, organizations must rethink their approach and the technologies they use to allow them to manage this electronic content whilst continuing to handle legacy paper retention.

iManage Records Manager helps firms navigate these considerations whether they deploy the system on-premises or in the cloud. It can manage physical records stored in internal file rooms or in external warehouses, and electronic content located in on-premises repositories or stored in the cloud. This flexibility enables firms to take baby steps into cloud-based solutions by enabling different options that can be used simultaneously as to what’s managed in the cloud and what’s on-premises, supporting any current or future initiative around moving to the cloud.

There was great interest in this hybrid capability at our booth and in our presentation sessions at this year’s ARMA exhibition.

The other major highlight from our ARMA breakfast and solution showcase session – both of which were heavily attended – was the reaction to our new dashboard capability, coming soon to iManage Records Manager. Attendees indicated that this new functionality is exactly what they need to monitor the metrics that are most important to records managers in their firms.

Attendees also liked how end users could view relevant dashboard metrics and work with both electronic documents and physical records in a single web based interface with a consistent user experience.

Those attending our invitation-only Breakfast Briefing were also given details of our short term roadmap plans and early visibility onto further innovation coming soon to iManage Records Manager, Security Policy Manager and Threat Manager.

iManage Records Manager is the #1 solution for legal and other professional service firms with over 550,000 users worldwide able to manage both physical and electronic records on any device, either on-premises or in the cloud.  Records Manager is the only product to integrate seamlessly into iManage Work, as well as manage content in other repositories, providing the best choice for consolidated document and records management with the highest levels of security and governance via complimentary iManage products of Security Policy Manager and Threat Manager.
